Estelle loves writing animal fantasy stories, inspired by her favorite book, *Pax* by Sara Pennypacker. Her favorite genre to write is sci-fi, and she admires J.K. Rowling’s work. She enjoys being part of the Rising Authors Society because it’s a peaceful place to focus on her writing.
Estelle has a lot of other interests and hobbies besides writing. She likes playing tennis, reading, and math; when she’s bored, she often reads or writes to pass the time. Her favorite food is sushi, and her favorite animal—she jokes—is herself! Estelle also has a dog named Pascal, who has a habit of eating things he shouldn’t, and a 16-year-old sister named Iris. Although she was born in a town in Rhode Island, she doesn’t remember which one.
Sam Ellis
Sam Ellis is a fifth grader at Hampden Meadows School with a love for writing. Before moving to Barrington in 2021, Sam lived in Massachusetts. He doesn’t have any siblings, but he has two cats named Lowell and Hazel who keep him company.
Sam’s favorite subject is the Humanities because it gives him a chance to write. He enjoys writing historical fiction and fantasy and loves reading those genres too. Some of his favorite books are the I, Funny series by James Patterson and How to Steal a Dog by Barbara O’Connor. Sam is excited to write for this magazine, where he hopes to do interviews and reports about the town of Barrington.
Scarlett Snape
Scarlett Snape likes Tennis, soccer, her three dogs, traveling, and ELA. She enjoys reading realistic fiction books and writing realistic fiction and intense stories. Her favorite things include sushi. She feels that The Rising Author Society is an amazing idea, When asked she said ”Why wouldn’t I want to join?”

Emma is a fifth-grade student at Hampden Meadows School (HMS) and keeps herself busy with sports, art, reading, and, of course, writing. She enjoys writing nonfiction and loves reading drama and longer fiction books. After finishing a book, Emma feels a wonderful sense of accomplishment. Her favorite series is by Judy Blume, especially Blubber, which she says is her favorite because “it has a lot of funny stories that also relate to my own life.”

Emma was thrilled when she found out about the Rising Authors Society at Hampden Meadows. “I am so stunned!” she said, grateful for the opportunity. She gives special thanks to her fourth-grade teacher, Mrs. Thompson, for recommending her. Everyone is excited to see where this journey takes Emma, a young author with so much promise!
